Saving Drawings to your personal computer.
To save a drawing to your personal computer, please follow the
steps below:
Go to the project page that contains the desired drawing.
Find the drawing by scrolling down the list.
Right click on the desired drawing.
Left click on "Save Target As".
At this point you are able to choose where you would like to save
the document to on your personal computer. I suggest placing the
document in either my documents or on the desktop. Most problems
occur when a user saves a document or file to a unknown location.
Click save.
Go to the folder where you saved the file and double left click
on the document to open it.
To save multiple drawings, repeat steps 3 thru 6 until all desired
drawings are downloaded.
View Trades / Subcontractors required on a project
The trade lists are posted on the main page when you enter the
Arnell-West website. We also include a copy of the trade list on
the drawings page for each job. The trade list includes: Project
Name, Location of Project, Bid Due Date and Time, Estimator Name
and Trades Required on the Project.
Printing full size to scale drawings (Plotter)
To print full size drawings, you must first have access to a
device that can print full size drawings. This would most likely be
done with a plotter. We have created an archive file on each project's
drawings page. We have included archives in both Adobe PDF and
standard TIF formats. Most people find it easier to print to scale
drawings using TIF format. Please click the link titled, "Archive file of all
drawings in TIF format" to get the files.
Instructions for the FTP site:
Arnell-West no longer has plans on an FTP site. Please download
the TIF files, found on each job specific page, by clicking on the
link titled, "Archive file of all
drawings in TIF format" to get the files.
Download instructions for a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader
5.x
Downloading the free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 is fairly
simple. The file is about 5 to 9 mb so if you are using a 56k modem
just be patient. I downloaded a copy using a 56k modem and it took
me 30 minutes. You download times will very depending on your connection
speed. Click the banner below and follow the instructions on Adobe's
page.

Print or View drawings, specifications, addenda, etc.
By default, documents viewed on our website will be viewed within
your web browser. The Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in will add a component
to your web browsers that will enable you to view documents with
a PDF extension.
The Drawings - Although the text is quite small when printing the
drawings to an 81/2 x 11, we find that the writing is quite legible
and very useful to our bidders. You can print the drawings the same
way you would print any other document. Unfortunately, if you do
not have version 5 or later you cannot print off selected areas
of the drawings onto an 81/2 X 11 sheet of paper.
If you have version 5.0.0 or later you can use the graphics select
tool to print a selected area of the drawing to an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.
Click on the graphics select tool on the toolbar. (Looks like a
dashed box with a square and circle inside) Left click and hold
then drag to create a box around the desired area. Whatever is within
the box area will print. Press the print icon in the Adobe toolbar
or file and print if not interfaced with the browser. Each printer
will have slightly different settings in the print menu. Print range
should have selected graphic marked. Below the number of copies
you will see shrink oversized pages to paper size, make sure that
is selected. Next, you will see expand small pages to paper size.
This is the setting that will allow you to print a small detail
to an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and have it expand to fit the page so make
sure that is selected. Press ok.
We have found that when using the graphics select tool, printing
will only work about 70% of the time. If you experience difficulties
printing a detail, try restarting your system and try it again.
Additionally, we have found that some printers work better than
others when printing PDF formatted files.
Specifications - Our specification files are multi-document files.
We have chosen to scan each division into a section in order to
reduce the amount of links we create on our website. If your area
of work is within a given division, you must select the correct
division and scroll down until you get to your section. When you
get to your page, look at the bottom left corner and adobe should
list the page you are on. Example pg 12. If you only want to print
your code, then when you select print choose the option to print
page 12 to 12 (only page 12 will print) or select 12 to 16 and pages
12 to 16 will print. By default, all pages will print if the "from"
box is left blank.
Addenda - Addenda works the same as the specifications on our website
with one exception, drawings are not included in the multi-page
scan. Drawings will be below the text information on the projects
page.
Other - What do we mean by other? Sometimes we receive information
we feel will be useful to the bidders. Examples of some of the items
we have posted in the past are: Soils Reports, Pictures of the Site,
Letters of Intent and Bidding Instructions. All files with the exception
of the pictures will be in PDF format. The pictures posted on our
site will be in a web compatible format.
