The Horizon
Plaza in Pocatello, Idaho, now has another building hosting
more facilities for the Department of Health and Welfare for
the eastern region of the state of Idaho. This new facility
will house the medical and financial services, regional administrations
of eight counties in Idaho, and the JOBS programs, said Bob
Etlin, supervisor of medical and financial services.
Etlin
also oversees all the building services. He said he is very
pleased with this new facility. The new three-story office
building contains 17,000 square-feet of new office space with
an additional 8,500 square-feet of underground parking. The
structure is made of concrete and structural steel with the
outside comprised of an Exterior Installation Finish System
and metal panels.
This
building was particularly interesting for the fact it was
built on a steep location with limited staging area. There
was one instance when the structural steel was delivered,
the steel covered the entire site. They had to clear a path
to enable the crane in to install the steel.
Prior
to moving into the new facility, the welfare services were
housed in a very old building, Etlin said. They join their
neighboring building at Horizon Plaza where approximately
75 percent of that building is occupied by the same department.
