Founded in 1986 by Jason Arnell and Arnold West, the company’s early years were in the tenant improvement market. Such a market helped Arnell-West be aggressive and competitive in their estimates. They learned to find good quality subcontractors to perform excellent work for the best possible price.

Arnell-West has grown from a small tenant improvement contractor to one of the leading commercial general contractors along the Wasatch front and in the entire State of Utah. Arnell-West has been ranked by The Construction Monitor and Enterprise Magazine as one of the top general contractors in the State of Utah.

In the fall of 2012, long time Head Project Manager, Lonnie Kimbell, assumed full ownership of the company and became CEO of today’s Arnell-West, Inc. Arnell-West’s philosophy continues to be based on performance: performance of our commitments to clients, subcontractors, employees and their families; along with commitments to safety, ethics, schedules, and quality. Arnell-West is able to provide strict scheduling, exceptional quality, and competitive pricing to every client. These qualities are just a few of the reasons that Arnell-West continues to excel in the construction industry.

Meet our team

Lonnie Kimbell

President / CEO

Lonnie is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He has over 27 years of experience in all types and phases of commercial construction. His expertise includes modern management skills and CPM scheduling to ensure construction completion dates. His construction projects have included a broad variety of project types in both the public and private sector. His diverse background and management expertise has placed him into the position of owner and President / CEO of Arnell-West, Inc. Additionally; he manages communications, marketing and the public relations development of Arnell-West, Inc. Lonnie is also a Certified Professional Constructor recognized by the American Institute of Constructors.


Brooks Arnell

Senior Estimator

Brooks has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from Weber State University and has also earned his MBA from the University of Utah. His 10+ years of construction industry experience in both estimating and project management make him a valuable team member. His estimating responsibilities include the many elements of determining and finalizing costs for projects of all industry types, while accommodating the overall needs of the client. Brooks has the communication skills and the ability to maximize productivity and increase value with each project he estimates. Brooks is a Certified Associate Constructor recognized by the American Institute of Constructors and also holds a Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP).


Chris Gates

Senior Superintendent

Chris joined Arnell-West in 2001 and is a Minnesota native. He attended Rochester Community College and studied Business Management.  He has over 40 years of commercial construction experience in all types and phases of commercial general contracting, construction management, and CPM scheduling. Chris has experience in estimating, project management and also as a project superintendent. His ability to work with and motivate subcontractors makes him a valuable asset to any project. He excels in his communication with owners, subcontractors and the design team. Chris is a Utah Registered Stormwater Inspector.



Lee Behunin


Lee has over 19 years of construction experience in the commercial construction industry. He is a skilled craftsman in rough and finish carpentry, large timber construction, concrete formwork, concrete finishing, tile work and drywall. He has excellent management and organizational skills supervising projects from excavation, to intricate finish work. Lee has demonstrated his ability and expertise in handling materials and supplies, construction management, quality control, scheduling and cost control. Lee takes pride in his work and has the ability to communicate well with others. Lee is a valuable asset on the projects he manages.



Kirk Walden


Kirk joined the management team at Arnell-West in 2013. Previously, Kirk worked as a Superintendent, Estimator and a jobsite Foreman for a contractor in Arizona. Kirk has successfully managed several tenant improvement projects since starting here. He excels at managing subcontractors and scheduling. Kirk is very detail oriented and knows what to expect from all trades. Kirk holds certifications from Weber State University in CAD Drafting / Design and also Interior design. Along with his fulltime work at Arnell-West, his spare time is spent working on a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Welcome Kirk, to the Arnell-West team.
